I have neglected Thy word of late
Just speedingly reading a verse

I have neglected Thy word of late

I wonder if that is why my joy
Has flown and my moods grow worse

I have neglected Thy word of late
And know not which way to go
For verses that were my guidance once
From neglecting, I do not know

I have neglected Thy word of late
And fallen into sin
For the lamp and light upon my path
Was not where it should have been

Lord, I repent and come to Thee
In humbleness I plead
I’ll read and search Thy blessed word
Ah, meet me at my need

Thy word has restored my joy, dear Lord
It is my strength and stay
A bulwark in life’s milling storms
A light upon my way.
