The Glorious Race

Ah glorious race that I should run,
Where ran the saints of old

Ah glorious race that I should run,
Where ran the saints of old
That in the footsteps stained with blood,
My very path unfolds.

I’ll clutch no weight up it,
I’ll throw them all inside,
That naught may bind and hold me
Encumbering my stride.

I’ll run the race alloted,
I’ll trust he knoweth best,
For then I know for certain,
I’ll pass each stringent test.

I’ll keep my eyes on Jesus,
Who ran ahead of me,
Untill I cross the ribbon
Into eternity.

Ah glorious race that I should run,
Where ran the saints of old,
That in the footsteps stained with blood,
My very path unfolds.
