Christian Poems are as ancient as the Bible itself. However, thousands of poets have written poems through the ages on various Bible and theological topics. Hymns are separate for practical purposes, but they are poems written to music. The doctrine of the New Testament is made alive and relatable in the stories of the old testament. In a similar way, the metaphors, concepts, expressions, and overall message of a poem often make a Bible concept alive in a way that is not otherwise possible. It is also easier to concentrate on a truth when reading it in poetic form and simpler to memorize.
