Death and Life

The Father’s love is far too great
To be to heaven confined.
The love He gave a worthy Son
Extends to humankind.

No man deserves a share in that
Which God bestows in grace,
And pours with all the wealth He owns
On our rebellious race.

My God, could any yearning soul
Be turned away by Thee?
And could thy overflow of love
Be not enough for me?

Is there a man so tightly bound
Thy love cannot prevail?
A man for whom thy power to save
Extends to no avail?

Could some peculiar turn of mind,
Some idiosyncrasy,
