DESPISED HIS WORDS - Louis Gervais

DESPISED HIS WORDS

Hello and greetings in the Name of the Son of Him Whose Words Are Despised, Jesus Christ! Let’s take a look at 2 Chronicles 36:15-17 , shall we? Verse 15 states: “The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place;” and so here we note the enduring care of God for His nation, Israel. Messengers were repeatedly sent to turn them back to Him for He knew what their end would be if they hard-neckedly continued in their sin. What was their response to a mercy as great as this? “but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, until there was no remedy.” –Chronicles 36:16 . Mocked. Despised. Scoffed. And this continued until when? Until right up to the time that the LORD’s wrath arose, reminding me of the evil men of Noah’s day who were wicked right up to the very day that they were caught in the net of God’s righteous, patient—but sure—judgment. In what form did this judgment against a rebellious race who knew better take place? “Therefore He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or infirm; He gave them all into his hand.” –2 Chronicles 36:17 . Why such a punishment? God was merely fulfilling His Word, doing what He said He would do if they rejected Him as He had warned in Deuteronomy 28.

Concerning the Word of God: “The rejecting of it will one day result in us being judged by it,” –Keith Daniel. The very Word of God which they despised and mocked became the standard used to measure their punishment. They despised the Word and were judged by the Speaker. God does not warn in vain nor use empty threats and there comes a day when His period of grace shall elapse. The uncompromising Scripture tells us of a God who cannot smile upon sin nor tolerate it forever. Therefore, logically, judgment will come sooner or later because mankind has proven itself over thousands of years to be prone to turning away from God by sowing rebellion and reaping destruction. This destruction—however they want to talk it away—will come upon the wicked one day. “It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth …” –Patrick Henry The prosecuted family asks prayer for the new legal action being brought against them to try and evict them by sometime in March. They have every reason to believe that the project they are working on is the Lord’s will and that this hindrance is just another attack from the enemy of our souls.

We might also pray for their health. My grandmother, Mr. Van Niekerk and Mr. Kussman need to heed the Word of God as is befitting the Word of God. I turned 24 on the 24th of February for the first time. Thank you for all of the prayers and birthday messages! Friends of mine made me a delicious peanut butter and chocolate cake! What they won’t come up with next =^D Thank you for your prayers; we had a blessed weekend conference at Samekoms near Middelburg, Mpumalanga where Keith Daniel preached (as well as Mrs. Jenny Daniel to the women and their son Roy Daniel as well). It’s a privilege to hear the Word of God proclaimed with boldness and in humility with the fear of the Lord. Lord-willing, Daniël and I will begin with the final preparations for the East-Rand Student Outreach on Thursday with the team arriving on Saturday. Friend, please pray for us. –Louis Gervais “Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He cometh in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” –Mark 8:38 KJV
