Lord, I Am Shy

Lord, I am so shy that I
Should really be excused.
Others are more competent
For thee, dear Lord, to use.

Moses felt he couldn’t speak,
Thy mouthpiece could not be,
Thus Aaron was the spokesman sent
Who spoke so fluently.

Yet if I consider
The path that Aaron went,
The calves he made the people serve
The criticism lent.

Moses with his stammering tongue
Would not have led astray
The disobedient Israelites
Upon their desert way.

It is not mere competence
Or talents by the score 
Obedience is more paramount 
By Thee considered more!
