My Great Failure

How can I be a witness?
How can I be a light?
When my great failure hovers
Never quite out of sight?

No-one can see God’s beauty
Past my enormous scar.
That failure life o’ershadows;
My test’mony doth mar.

Don’t let the faults of bygones
Rob you of fruit to-day.
Don’t let it mar your image
And haunt you on life’s way.

Ah child, your King is sovereign.
He’ll cleanse repented sin.
His sweet forgiveness granted
Doth His acceptance bring.

Don’t let the faults of bygones
Rob you of fruit to-day.
Rather seek God’s forgiveness
To wash your sins away.

So that the faults of bygones
Buried, discarded are,
Letting you advance forward
Without a crippling scar.
