Pardon must be accepted

 Pardon must be accepted

In 1829 George Wilson was sentenced to death in Pennsylvania. President Andrew Jackson granted him a pardon. George Wilson decided to decline the pardon. This was a new type of case in American law and the president referred it to the Supreme Court. The following was the verdict of Chief Justice John Marshall “A Pardon is paper, the value of which is dependant upon its acceptance by the person implicated. George Wilson will be hanged.” God loved the world so much he gave His son to buy our pardon. In spite of the death of Christ if man does not accept God’s pardon it is as worthless to him as a piece of paper.
