Procrastination on Getting Serious - Lee Brainard

Though many do not understand what it means to be a born-again Christian, they do understand that it has something to do with being more serious about Christianity than they are now. They agree that they ought to be more serious, yet … they are too busy right now to look into the matter … maybe next week or next year. But there are four reasons you should quit your procrastination today.

First of all, no man knows what tomorrow holds. You could die in your sleep tonight or die on the road or at work tomorrow.
Secondly, the new birth doesn’t increase your odds of going to heaven. It is the only way to heaven. If a man isn’t born again, he has zero chance of entering heaven. (John 3:3, Tit. 3:5, 1 Pet. 1:23)

Thirdly, hell isn’t a fairy tale designed to scare people into going to church. It is an awful reality — a furnace of fire … weeping and gnashing of teeth … forever … (Mt. 13:42, Rev. 14:11, Mk. 9:44)

Fourthly, heaven is worth the little bit of inconvenience in this life that getting serious costs you. Why die scratching for thin pickings with the chickens when you could be an heir of God?

Do yourself the biggest favor you will ever do yourself in this life. Get a Bible and read the gospels, starting with John. Let God himself tell you the what, why, and how of the new birth.
