Shadrach, Mesach, Abednego

Shadrach, Mesach, Abednego
Stood when the others were falling low,
Knowing that death was the price they’d pay
If they were faithful to God that day.

Drums rolled, the cry rang to bend the knee
Before the image a King’s decree,
But they were willing to burn and die,
For God they’d honour and not deny.

You too are called to bend the knee,
Be it at school, child, or ‘varsity.
Life will be death if you don’t comply;
Compromise beckons child bend or die.

Shadrach and Mesach, Abednego
Glorified God many years ago.
Christ was with them in the scorching flame.
Tested they stood glorified His name.

What will you do, child? Decide to-day.
Will you give in to the world’s dark sway?
Ah child, stand up, do not bend the knee;
Bow to the pressure but faithful be.
