THE FAITH OF BLIND BARTIMAEUS

     He kept crying out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” He had heard that Jesus was passing by; and because he was blind and could not go to him, he was afraid that he would not be heard. A crowd was following Jesus, wanting to see a miracle or be fed by Him and they told him, be quiet. The result was, he cried out even louder.
     This blind, beggar had little hope for the life ahead of him. He was a burden to his parents and unable to provide a living for himself, much less a family. He had heard of this man called Jesus and knew that He worked miracles. Here was his one great opportunity to be able to see, he would be near him.
     Jesus heard him and stopped to listen. He commanded that the man be brought to him. His simple question was, “What do you want me to do for you?” Blind Bartimaeus answered, “Rabboni (My Great One), that I may receive my sight.” Jesus said to him, without touching him, “Go your way, your faith has made you well.” He immediately received his sight and followed Jesus. Mark 10:46-52.
     What an opportunity we have in this age. This Man, the Lord Jesus Christ, is always near and ready to hear the cry of anyone who desires to be healed of his load of sin and the resulting condemnation. Are we willing, by faith, to humble ourselves, confess our sin, cry out and come to Christ for eternal life today? “Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6.
