The Testimony of Nature

A drop of dew upon a rose
Adorned in nature’s finest clothes,

A drop of dew upon a rose
Adorned in nature’s finest clothes,
The grandest mount in stately gray
Whose glory takes my breath away,
The forest, dense with luscious green,
The prairie charm, more felt than seen,
The checkered fields of every hue,
The open sky of endless blue,
In harmony they cry aloud,
“Behold the goodness of our God!”

The ocean, vast beyond our reach,
The smallest pebble on the beach,
A mushroom popped up over night,
An aging fir of lofty height,
A rocky cliff, a mountain pass,
A tuft of moss, a blade of grass,
A river flowing swiftly by,
The sun, the moon, the starry sky,
They all declare with one accord,
“Behold the wisdom of the Lord!”
