They Point a Finger at Me

They point a finger at me, dear Lord,
Accusing me of sin,
Of saying words I never said,
Gone where I ‘ve never been.

They point a finger at me, dear Lord,
Accuse me of having lied.
Ah, see my misery and grief;
The tears that I have cried.

They point a finger at me, dear Lord,
And thou didst not reply.
I’m asked to turn the other cheek
To each accusing lie.

If you wouldst My disciple be
The world will rail, accuse;
They’ll taunt and mock, ridicule you,
As they did Me abuse.

Dear God, before Thy throne, I yield
My life, what it doth hold.
Take me and let me be Thy slave,
As if I have been sold.
