Luther announces he will preach at Rossla.

December 2, 1539. To Frau Dorothea, Herr Balthaser Mackenrothen’s beloved wife, at Rossla.

Dear Sister — I see from your letter how earnestly your burdened conscience longs for a gospel sermon of consolation, and that you wish to hear for once such a sermon in your Rossla church. I am delighted to hear this, and have now resolved — God granting me life and health — to be with you on Christmas Eve, when I shall, with God’s help, preach the first Evangelical sermon at Rossla as a remembrance for you all. Greet your husband and the little Margaretta, for whom I shall bring something. I commit you to God.
