ETERNAL LIFE COMES TO THE DEAD JAILOR. - Chapel Chat

This new WAY of salvation and belief was sweeping the continent  of Asia and now was coming to Europe. Paul had just crossed over  from what we know as Turkey to Greece. In his bold way, he was  declaring the way of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Some fortune tellers began to follow him who also declared a WAY of salvation. Paul was much distressed and finally told the evil spirit in the fortune teller to come out.  When they discovered that Satan could no longer help them, they had Paul and Silas arrested, beaten and put in jail.

In jail, Paul and Silas are singing hymns about their Savior and  praying out loud to the One God of creation and salvation. God  proclaims an earthquake for the jail and all the prisoners are freed  from their chains. The jailor is about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped, but Paul declares they are all there. The jailor had apparently heard about this God of salvation through Paul and Silas’s praying and singing. He asks that great question, “What must I do to be saved?” Acts 16:16-34.

Paul responds by saying, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you  will be saved.” The jailor had already shown repentance in wanting to know the way of salvation and submitting to the teaching of Paul.

Christ freely gives eternal life to those who are dead in sins if they will only come to Him, repent and ask. Join the jailor and millions of others who have come to the Savior for life from the dead.
