He was a party to those who stoned Stephen. He sought Christians to imprison and kill them. He was an arrogant, zealous man who persecuted and tried to destroy the church. His name was Saul who was renamed Paul after receiving Christ. Acts 8:3, 26:9-11.
When we humble ourselves, repent, believe God, and receive Christ, what do we receive?
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” John 1:12
We, as children of God, become “heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.” Rom. 8:17.
We receive eternal life like Nicodemus, “but whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:15
We receive the Holy Spirit like the great sinner Paul, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus— has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 9:17
We are declared righteous before God like Abraham, “–believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Gal. 3:6
We receive forgiveness of sins like Cornelius, “through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” Acts 10:43
We receive freedom from the bondage of sin like all those in Christ. “–the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” Rom. 8:2. Repent, receive your gifts today. Conformed to Christ.
