WAYS OF THE LORD - Louis Gervais

WAYS OF THE LORD

Hello and greetings in the Name of the Son of Him Whose Ways are Best, Jesus Christ! Moses prayed, “let me know Your ways that I may know You,” (Exodus 33:13 ). David said, “For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.” –Psalm 18:21 KJV. This following verse was written about Israel but reminds me of the times we live in: “Yet your fellow citizens say, ‘The way of the Lord is not right,’ when it is their own way that is not right.” –Ezekiel 33:17 Now as born-again Christians we know that the Lord’s ways are the best ways. He is sufficient in Himself; He is not in need of our counsel. For as He says in the context of the ways of the wicked and the unrighteous man’s thoughts: “‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.’” –Isaiah 55:8-9 “The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright, But ruin to the workers of iniquity.” –Proverbs 10:29 .

Either you fall in line with God’s leadership or you fall under God’s leadership. “Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; Whoever is discerning, let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, And the righteous will walk in them, But transgressors will stumble in them.” –Hosea 14:9 . And we can trust the Lord that His ways are best; we can submit our will to His and rest fully in Him! “The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.” –Deuteronomy 32:4 Sometimes the term “the ways of the Lord” carries a connotation of that sweet walk with the Lord. If we walk in His ways in the biblical sense then we know Him and are known by Him. We walk with Him daily, and He with us. A glorious thing indeed! In a sense, a restoration of what Adam experienced in Eden.

And may it be our life story; that we will have “walked with God,” as did Enoch. “My son, give me thy heart; And let thine eyes delight in my ways.” –Proverbs 23:26 The persecuted family writes: “We are most grateful for the prayer support which we believe has made every difference in our situation. At times things were critical here and the situation has improved. Unfortunately recently we have received renewed threats implying real danger and we shall greatly appreciate further prayer. This is a serious battle with possible far-reaching implications. We rejoice that the battle is the Lord’s. ‘O Sovereign LORD, my strong deliverer, Who shields my head in the day of battle,’ –Psalm 140:7 ” Please pray also for my grandmother, Mr. Van Niekerk and Mr. Kussman; that they too may experience the joy of walking in the ways of the Lord. Thanks for praying for our tour! We only have four more days to go… Soon the 3 Horsepower Tour comes to an end.

We have one more youth night Tuesday night which you can pray for. Jan and I stayed at the dormitory of a German primary school this week which enabled us to share the Gospel there in the mornings and then play tag-rugby with the kids in the afternoons and have youth nights every night in the dorm’s dining hall—praise the Lord! Jan Harm, Daniël, Jan and I also preached at a retirement home and high school plus we went to Pongola where the Lord helped us find an old friend of our Mission. It was all-in-all a very blessed week and it was Jan’s favorite part of the entire 5-week tour. May we finish well and walk in the ways of the Lord! –Louis Gervais “And they shall sing of the wayes of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord is great.” –Psalm 128:5 Geneva Bible 1599
